Good Things Utah

Today my sister-in-law/best friend Robyn and I went to a live broadcast of the local TV Show "Good Things Utah". I've been watching the show on and off for 2 years now. There are lots of reasons why I watch the show, but I especially like that it's a local show and gives reviews on what's going on around town. Anyone can go to a live broadcast, it's free (bonus) but you do need to email in advance the days you can attend. It was neat being up close and personal with local "celebs". I have to admit though that I would get nervous every time the camera would pan to the audience, kinda nerve racking, I definitely couldn't be in front of a camera everyday. After the show was done taping we got to meet and mingle with the hosts and take pics. I was pleasantly surprised at how outgoing and friendly all the ladies were. It was a welcome break from mommyhood and I enjoyed every minute of it. I would definitely recommend checking it out for anyone that is a fan. I am pretty fascinated with TV in general so to be in a studio and watch live TV is pretty cool for me. I love it.

Juno Rocks

I went to see the movie Juno tonight and absolutely loved it! The screenwriting was excellent, the actors were magnificent and the overall tone of the movie was superb. I think I started laughing as soon as the actors started speaking. In fact, I was pretty much in stitches the entire time and quoting lines as soon as I walked out of the theater. It was a witty, intelligent, and moving flick. Both thumbs up, would see it again in a heartbeat and can't wait to buy it when it comes out on DVD. My fingers are crossed for Ellen Page to win the Oscar this Sunday for her performance. She's amazing! Love love love her!

Tips for an Exceptional, Superb & Powerful Life

24.) Ladies - Go on and burn those 'special' scented candles, use the 600 thread count sheets, the good china and wear our fancy lingerie now. Stop waiting for a special occasion. Everyday is special.
25.) No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
26.) Frame every so-called disaster with these words:'In five years, will this matter?'
27.) Forgive everyone for everything.
28.) What other people think of you is none of your business.
29.) Time heals almost everything. Give time, time!
30.) However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
31.) Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch with them.
32.) Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.

Yummy Yummy Yummy I Got Love In My Tummy...

So Cupcake is a new store that just opened in Holladay. It's a cute little cupcake shop, just like the ones in NYC. They have a variety of cupcakes, and these babies are big cupcakes, well worth your money. As you can tell they're almost too pretty to eat. It's a good thing I don't live closer,or else I'd probably be stopping by on a weekly basis. Hmmm....on second thought, maybe we should move closer to Salt Lake. :) They also have a variety of hot and cold beverages to wash down the yummy goodness. Check it out, you wont regret it. It's SO YUMMY!!!!

Lame! Lame! Lame!

I couldn't wait to see "Fools Gold" and I've been counting the days 'til it's release date. The trailer looked great so you can imagine my excitement when I got the chance to see it tonight. Oh how disappointed I was. The movie is lame lame lame. Not even Matthew McConaughey's hotness and perfect torso can save this flick. I was bored and didn't even laugh once throughout the entire film, and it doesn't take much to get me laughing. I had hoped that this movie would be as good, if not better than "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days", well I should have saved my money and watched ( for the 100th time) "How to Lose a Guy...". What a bummer!

Happy Birthday Brandon!

Today Brandon turned 37 years old! Yowzahs, where does the time go? One thing I've noticed about birthdays is that as you get older, they just aren't as fun. Brandon always insists that we don't make a big deal out of it, so I try to keep it low key. We celebrated with a cake from Cold Stone. Maddie enjoyed helping Daddy blow the candles out, and then she helped herself to some cake.

Sponge Rollers

I thought it would be a fun experiment to put Maddie's hair in sponge rollers. People always comment on how long her hair is for how young she is, so why not take advantage right? I detested those pink spongy things when I was little and now look, I've come full circle! Hey, it's just part of being a girl right? I think every girl my age can remember having those rollers in their hair at one time or another. Well, here's the finished product. Maddie likes it....kinda. She keeps touching her hair and looking in the mirror. I guess I found a new look for my munchkin.

The Greatest Snow On Earth!

I haven't blogged in awhile and I thought I could blog about the tons of snow we keep getting. I swear, it seems every morning I wake up and it's either snowing, just finished snowing, or is about to start snowing! Just yesterday, as it was snowing, I look out my window and I kid you not, there was a man across the street cross-country skiing. Now for those who are not familiar with Harrison Blvd. it is one of the more busier streets in Ogden and seeing a man on skis is not a daily occurrence. Seriously, I love winter and all that comes with that, but I am so over snow right now. The only bonus to all this snow is NOT having to here the local weathermen complain about how dangerously low the water level is and how we are in a drought. Brandon said that he heard we are 140% above normal right now, and I'm sure those numbers will only increase over the next month. Anyways, I keep meaning to purchase a $5 sled from Walmart and take Maddie sledding. I'm now kicking myself for DI'ing all my winter gear when we moved from Layton, because I thought I wouldn't be using it again. Now I'm debating on going back to the DI and buying someone else's gear just so I can play in the snow with Maddie. I guess I still have to learn things the hard way eh?

I officially have 18 inches of the white stuff on my front lawn.

Maddie wasn't too happy to be out in the white stuff either.

The sidewalk in front of my house.

One of the snowbanks bordering my almost non-existent driveway.

The birdfeeder in my backyard.

Maddie is standing in the snow and not too happy about it.

Standing in front of the snow bank. Maddie is just under 3 feet tall, so you can see how high the bank is.
