We put the gingerbread house together, and what started out as a fun Christmas activity turned into total meltdown cry fest 3000. Madde decorated and Allie ate, and ate, and ate. I didn't realize but Miss M is quite the perfectionist. Once she was finished she compared her house to the house on the box and freaked out that it did not look right! It was pure craziness and brought out of side of her that I've never noticed or seen. So...after all was said and done I took some pics and then we tossed the poor thing in the garbage. Maddie demanded it. Well...'tis the season.

This year Maddie's birthday falls on Black Friday. When we asked her what she wanted to do for her birthday she said she wanted a party back in JC with her buddies. To avoid the Holiday craziness we decided to throw her party a week early. We headed up to JC last Thursday and stayed for the night. It was wicked cold up there, but we had a blast! Good times.

First Day of Kindergarten

Today was Maddie's "Stagger Day" for Kindergarten at Sharon Elementary. Her official day of school won't be until NEXT Wednesday, so yes, she's confused, but she is going to school today, all day.

After we dropped off Maddie (at 7:45am) Allie and I headed to the park, we had to kill a few hours before nap time somehow.

We headed to Utah for a quick visit and to celebrate 4th of July. Let's just say I WONT be traveling on an airplane with a 16 month old ever again. But we got there in one piece and had a great time hanging with family and friends. I'm already planning our next visit and it will be twice as long. Just too many things to do and people to see, wish we could have done more. I'm giving rain checks to everyone that we missed.

My hair is literally to my butt, and I think it may be a tad bit long. I've got my hair appointment set and ready to go next month but I have serious hair anxiety right now and am on the fence with what I should do. I know for sure I'm am going to lighten to a dark blonde (because I feel so much better as a blonde) but the length...hmmm. So I've posted a pic of the haircut I kinda sorta like right now, except Brando is NOT a fan and his opinion on this subject definitely matters to me. I've also posted a pic of the hairstyle he "likes" on me, but this was a growing out my boy haircut weird stage, and it's borderline mullet, so I don't think I want to go that route either....help!

So I'm kinda in a hair rut. I wear my hair in the same braided style just about everyday...and I think it's time for a new look. We were invited to a new ward member's Easter Egg Hunt and BBQ. I was super excited because this is how we are gonna make Charlotte awesome for us...getting out and meeting new people and making friends. Maddie desperately wants to make new friends, I know she'll be much more comfortable with the move once she connects with a couple kids. As you can see in the pictures there was quite the turnout and we had a blast watching the kids collect eggs and roll them down the hill.

A few days before we moved to Charlotte we noticed this gopher/groundhog hanging around our backyard. He was as big as a neighborhood cat, really cute, fat, and ate the heads off of our dandelions. My awesome friends Brandy and Belinda came by for one last visit (and to help finish up the big move). I miss them so much, and Maddie is missing her BFF's too. Tornado Aftermath

Here are some pics taken right after a tornado swept down our street this afternoon. There had been tornado warnings earlier in the day (which I was completely unaware of). It looked like rain outside, gloomy, gray overcast. Well, Brandon, Maddie and I were just sitting in the kitchen talking about the storm. Brandon was hoping the power wouldn't go out, and I was telling him to relax, because NOTHING had happened yet. Then...it happened. The wind really picked up and it was raining so hard outside that it was a blur. Then we heard this screeching metal sound and saw flashes of light through the window (that was the neighbors tree falling). We raced to the bathroom and bunked out for about 10 seconds, until the sounds stopped. Then, we looked outside and this is what we saw. The shed use to be flush with the house, I think that's what made the "screeching metal sound". Thankfully no one in the neighborhood was hurt, just the trees, a new truck, and some fencing and lawn furniture took the brunt of the storm. Sadly, there are a couple dogs missing. Within minutes though everyone was out, helping to clear the debris from the blocked street. I can't believe we just lived through our first tornado. It was amazing, scary, and just an unbelievable experience.

Now that the party is over we can get back to our "normal" schedule which pretty much is pick Maddie up from school, put Allie down for nap, wait for Allie to wakeup, go outside and play, wait for Dad to come home. While outside today Maddie got the courage to jump off the front porch, she's pretty proud of herself.

This is the one and only feature I LOVE about this house. There are two mirrors in the bathroom. Basically it eliminates the need to hold a mirror to check the back of your hair, perfect for a gal like me. Our next bathroom will have this for sure.

Today it was almost 60 degrees outside, sunny, with blue skies. It did not feel like Winter, more like early Spring. Very nice, very nice indeed. So, we hung out on the sunny front lawn and just soaked in the Vitamin D. Allie is still getting use to grass, and Maddie gets to run laps around the outside of the house, awesome way to get the wiggles out.

Poor Allie has been pretty yucky the past few nights. She's cranky, feverish and inconsolable. So sad, I can't wait for her to get better. But, this gives me more of an excuse to stay indoors and hang out. We got dumped on the past few days. This is crazy, because we usually do not get snow like this. Big fluffy flakes, lots of powder to play in. Maddie loves it for about 5 minutes then races back inside for a bubble bath and some hot chocolate.

Snow Day

This morning we had some light flurries just dancing through the air as Brandon took Maddie to Pre-K. I had just got Allie down for her morning nap and was elbow deep in cleaning the house when Brandon and Maddie showed up, 15 minutes later from school. Turns out there was a 2 hour delay for school today that nobody told me about. Ok, great. This turn of events sorta threw a wrench into my whole "day of deep cleaning" mode. Long story short Maddie ended up staying home ALL day because when it was time to take her back to school my car battery was dead. The click click click sound as I turned the car-key was not what I wanted to hear after I had just done the carseat battle with Allie, in the freezing cold. As soon as I told Maddie that she wasn't going to school today because the car wouldn't start she went into full on crying hysterical uncontrollable freak out. Seriously! It was crazy. She was pretty upset for about 30 minutes. This isn't like her and it made me realize that 1. She LOVES school and will have to finish out her school year here no matter what and 2. Wow, she really can throw a class A fit when she wants to. So, after things had calmed down the girls and I just chilled at home, watched the snowfall from the comfort of the couch and enjoyed Christmas flicks. I also whipped up a batch of peanut butter cookies. Delish.

Today is my birthday and what I like most about this day is that it means we are now only 20 days away from Christmas! Our house is decorated, Christmas music fills the air and I'm baking baking baking all the time. Maddie WAS Supergirl, a few weeks back when Brandy took her pics, but decided against that idea when it came down to the nitty gritty. Instead, she decided to be Snow White for her school Halloween Parade and a kitty for trick or treating. She did throw on the Supergirl costume for the JC Library Parade. I love how Maddie threw together cute costumes that we already had AFTER I had bought the one costume she couldn't live without. Good times. Glad it's over.

Maddie finally started Pre-K at South Side Elementary today. She is so excited...and I am too. She gets to go to school from 8:00am-1:30pm, 5 days a week! This is it people..like REAL school, and the best part is it's FREE!!!!! So of course I had to take the traditional "first day of school pic". Can you tell she's stoked. OH and she loved it. She even invited her teacher over to our house to watch "Nim's Island". Cute.

Today I ran for the first time in two weeks. It felt great, in fact I was smiling big (like the photo above) for the first mile. I knew from my first few steps that I was back! I planned out a little 2 mile run...just to be safe. It was short, flat, and easy. As I completed Mile 1 and proceeded to turn around to head home I misstepped and fell. Yes fell, with my left knee and both hands breaking my fall. Seriously! What just happened is all I could think, that and EVERYONE at this intersection is staring at me. So I hopped up as fast as I could and headed home. So now I have a little scraped knee, but my legs feel great and I'm going full speed ahead.

My running shoes haven't moved in over a week. I'm sad, frustrated, and looking forward to the morning that I can wear them again. I was doing so well with my running and then I got shin splints or a stress fracture...who knows...but basically the cure is DON'T RUN. Well, that's kinda hard to do when all I want to do is run. So what did I do? I ran. Did it hurt? Uh yeah...alot...but I kept running until I couldn't run anymore. So to prevent further damage I decided I really really really must take atleast a 2 week break from running. Grr...this is hard to do for a runner like me. Well, atleast once I'm ready to go again the weather will be welcoming me with open arms. It's starting to be cooler in the morning again, which means Fall is right around the corner. My favorite season to run. Yippee.
